In this principle of the Happiness Advantage, Achor goes on to explain how instead of falling down, we should be falling up. He describes falling up as seeing our failures as opportunities of growth. I have always heard the phrase about learning from your mistakes. However, most of the time this is a lot easier said than done. It is easy to come across an obstacle, setback, or failure, and lose hope or motivation. When we fail it is life giving us a shock, we become so hopeless from that shock that we find it easier to just give up. However, changing our mindset of the situation, and looking for the more positive outcomes from the setback, can lead people to actually learn from their mistakes.  Achor talks how there are usually two paths given to us when we have experienced failure, and that finding a third path is necessary to be falling up. A lot of the time things are not just black and white, there is a lot of gray area that also needs to be considered. This gray area is what helps us in finding a third path. I know a lot of the time when I experience failure in school work, I find it hard to change my mindset and see the positive in bad situations. In the future I hope to learn from my mistakes and use my failure to work towards my success.
